How to get there - Sea Fun Divers Le Meridien

Sea Fun Divers operates out of two 4 Star Hotels on the West Coast of Phuket. The main office is in Le Meridian Hotel which is in Karon.

Finding Sea Fun Divers, Le Meridien.

There is one main road running between Patong and Chalong. Going North to South, leaving Patong you will pass through Karon and then Kata before into Chalong. This is called Patak Road.

Coming From Patong Beach:

From the Southern end of the ring-road in Patong, turn left, away from the beach. After 500 meters you will get to a cross roads, turn right, you are now on Patak Road.
Leaving Patong, you will notice more greenery and then you will start to climb a hill. As you go down the other side you will pass an elephant camp on your left. Pass this and look for the right turn to Le Meridien. Start going up hill again and you have gone to far.

Coming From Chalong, Kata or Karon:

From Chalong Circle (Roundabout) take the road North towards Kata, Karon and Patong. This is the Patak Road. Stay on the road for 6 km. You will pass over a mountain and down the other side into Kata. Going through some traffic lights you will leave Kata and enter Karon. Passing through Karon you will arrive at a roundabout. Turn right, you are still on the Patak Road. Rising up into the mountains again you will have the coast on your left. After travelling about 1 km in the mountains you will be able to see a large white building with a green roof down at sea level, this is the Meridien Hotel. After travelling downhill for a way you will see a turning on the left sign posted to Le Meridien. If you pass an elephant camp on your right, you have gone too far.

From Le Meriden Entrance:

Once turned onto the side road, after 100 meters, you will be stopped at the entrance gate to the hotel. Tell the staff that you want to visit Sea Fun Divers and they will let you through. Pass the first turning on the right to staff accommodation but take the right hand fork which will take you down to a car park. Cars on the left and bikes on the right. From here you are on foot. Go back to the road that entered the car park and carry on walking downhill towards the beach. Through another gate you then have the hotel on your left and a golf pitch and putt on your right.

Sea Fun Divers Dive Center

Sea Fun Divers office is in the far corner of the building, right on the beach. If you have got sandy feet you have gone too far. (Or just wanted to have a look at the beautiful “Relax Bay”)

Customer Reviews - Tommaso

Copy of a review posted on Scuba Board

Hi to everyone! Just a quick review of a dive centre:
Sea Fun Divers, in Patong, Phuket, Thailand.

I am not a very experienced diver (amateur - 39 dives in 4 years), with Advanced Open Water Diver certificate and Nitrox, Deep, Wreck specilaizations.

I don't have enough experience to review the technical ability of the dive guides but I want to say how great my experience with this Dive Centre was:
- Equipment: middle of the range and very new & clean - everyone gets their own, new, mouth piece.
- Dive Guides Pea and Boris: they seem to be able to find ANYTHING under water!! They let everyone get on with their own pre dive preparations and checks but, when less experienced divers make mistakes, they correct them. Under water we enjoyed the same liberty with the same non intrusive safety spervision and we were always pointed out all the points of interest.
- Boat: clean, new, w/ on board compressor, A/C, breakfast & lunch included and free drinks/coffee/snaks all day. Very, very comfortable to dive from, and return to, with hot water shower! Nice experience.
- Nick (owner) is very flexible to accommodate any requirement. Just ask...
- Prices are slightly higher than other local dive centres but the quality is much higher - therefore the value for money is good.
- In short, very clean, new, safe and enjoyable dive centre.
HIGHLY recommended. The best in Asia as far as my experience goes (admittedly not much)!

Smiles!

Tommaso

The Reef at Kata Beach

Kata Beach Diving

At the North end of Kata Beach there is reef which can be seen breaking the surface at low tied. It is shallow, large and well worth exploring either with a mask & snorkel or, as I prefer, with scuba equipment. Even if you have never dived before. In high season (November to April), this is a perfect spot to do a PADI Discover Scuba Diver course.

The reef itself is mainly hard corals such as Lobed pore coral, brain corals and bush corals. Some soft corals can also be found along with Sea Anemones populated with Skunk Anemone fish.

Kata Reef always seems to come up with something on every dive which makes it so interesting. Just last week in one dive I found: cuttlefish, razor fish, ornate ghost pipe fish and bent stick pipefish. Juvenile, adolescent and fully grown oriental sweetlips and regular schools of Forster's Barracuda circulate slowly above. Huge schools of catfish, sea horses and harlequin shrimp have all been seen on the reef on other occasions.

Qualified or not, it is always best to dive with a guide or instructor to be kept safe from potential dangers but also to see the best things down there. Contact us here at Sea Fun Divers and we can arrange this and any dive equipment for you.

Once you get dropped at the beach, get yourself kitted up leaving your mask, snorkel and fins to carry. Don't forget to arrange your pick up time, then do your buddy checks and walk straight across the beach from the ramp directly info the sea. Walk in until about waist deep and then put your mask and fins on. Look straight out to sea. You will see a white buoy 150 – 200 meters out. Lay on your back and take a casual swim out to the buoy. Once there catch your breath if you need to and then descend down the line. For safety take a Divers Buoy with you as there can be some boat and jet-ski traffic. Once down on the bottom, about 2 meters deep, head North Westerly. In a couple of minutes you will pick up the reef and, I suggest, follow it out deeper keeping the reef on your right and the sand underneath you.

I usually follow the reef out for about 30 minutes, or until I have used about 75 – 80 bar of air, and then come back in over the top of the reef. At high tied your maximum depth will be no more than 9 meters so you can do really long dives here if you wish.

Customer Reviews - Vassili

Happy Vassili enjoyed diving in Similan Islands on board MV South Siam IV and our day trip boat.

"Good Day

Sorry for late response, I had long business trip to Latvia, Germany and Lithuania. I have really enjoyed my diving with Sea Fun Divers.

Vassili in Similan
I choose about three months between different dive centers and glad to say that my choice was absolutely right.  I’m not able to comment liveaboard trip to Similans because that was my first safari adventure.

Except one thing : it was great! Pleasant craft, trained crew, friendly divers team, helpful guide, great atmosphere onboard. I have got positive shot in my heart. As for daily trip that was organized and performed at highest level I met during last 10 years.

To say honestly most of dive centers I are doing money with newborn divers. That is much easier and more profitable then to try to satisfy advanced divers.

Sea Fun Divers targeted to make enjoyable each dive for everyone. That was much appreciated. Thank you very much for diving!

Best regards,

Vassili"
