On 17 December Seafun Divers organised a beach clean up of their house reef on Kata Noi Beach, Phuket.
Kata Noi Reef is usually very clean but as the Phuket weather system changed last month from the south west monsoon to the north east monsoon some unwanted debris was trapped in a few corners of the reef. This man made junk included plastic bags, plastic bottles, cans and other small plastic items.
A group of about 10 local divers dived the reef in the morning armed with grab bags and cutters provided by Seafun Divers. Each buddy team emerged one hour later with full bags.
A delicious beach side buffet lunch was provided by the Kata Thani resort and then it was back in the water for a second dive to collect what was missed on the first dive.
The day was a resounding success and Kata Noi reef is back to it's usual beautiful best. The reef makes a lovely shallow shore dive. Visibility was good and divers saw blue spotted sting rays, dog faced puffer fish, lion fish and scorpion fish along with the usual schools of reef fish.
Thanks go to Rob, Preaw and Noo of Seafun divers for organising the dives and to Kata Thani resort for the delicious lunch
