The Junk was originally built in 1962 and named the June Hong Chian Lee.  Originally she was a merchant vessel plying her trade up and down the coastline of Malaysia and Burma, it was in 1985 that she was refitted to be a classic yacht   In 1997 she changed owners, was renamed “the Junk” and was completely rebuilt to be a multi-passenger liveaboard luxury yacht.  The Junk is 30 meters long and weighs in at around 330 tons, with both sails and a diesel engine; with a capacity of 18 passengers, having 6 cabins: 2 double bed cabins, 2 triple cabins and 2 quad share cabins, but usually we sail with around 12 passengers.

The Junk offers 7 days/6 night cruises to the Similan Islands, Richelieu Rock and Surin Islands through the end of May and then to Phi Phi Islands, Racha Islands, Hin Deang/Muang until the middle of October, when they switch back to the Similan Islands.  So now is a good time to begin planning your next trip on this historic ship and perhaps take advantage of some early bird discounts.

Think about which cabin would best suit your needs, one of the two double bed cabins if it will be you and your significant other exploring  the depths together while relax aboard the Junk in the evenings.  If you are traveling with your family perhaps one of the triple or quad cabins would suite you best or even a combination of a double cabin for you and your significant other and a triple or quad cabin for the kids.  Or if you are traveling alone and on a budget perhaps sharing a quad cabin with other like minded divers is what you have in mind.  We are very flexible in configuring our cabins to meet your needs.  All cabins are air-conditioned and have hot-water showers and toilets included.

Now let’s focus on the reason you come to Thailand and book a luxury cruise on the Junk…The Diving.  For those of you that have been to Thailand and the Phuket area before, there is nothing I can say that you have not already realize, Phuket and its surrounding islands offer some of the world best and most beautiful dive sites.  There are beautiful coral reefs that are home to a wide variety of fish and undersea creatures.  For those first time divers coming to Phuket, you will quickly discover why so many people return year after year to explore the many dive sites surrounding Phuket.  Now imagine you can do this while living aboard our luxury yacht, with its rich history and comfortable accommodations.

Since you will be with us for 7 days, one of our other main concerns is that the food on board is always first class.  Of course we offer gourmet breakfasts, lunches and dinners as well as snacks between meals.  There is always fresh fruit available as well as a variety of sweets, such as donut, banana cakes, cheese cakes, custards, plus many more.  If you have special diet requirements, let us know and our chef will happily prepare special meals to accommodate your needs.  To quote one of our satisfied passengers: “Dinner was fantastic. I wanted to eat more and more but my stomach didn't allow me.”

How to get there - Sea Fun Divers Katathani

Finding Sea Fun Divers Katathani Dive Center, Kata Noi

From Patong Beach:

From the Southern end of the ring-road in Patong, turn left, away from the beach. After 500 meters you will get to a cross roads, turn left, you are now on Patak Road.

Follow this road all the way through the mountains until you get to a roundabout. Take the second turning here and follow the coast road through Karon. Go up the hill past “The Dino Park” on your right and down the other side. Do not take the hard left turn, but take the left fork immediately afterwards. This road ends at a crossroads, turn right. Follow the road round to the left and then fork right, up a steep hill and down the other side into Kata Noi. The road has buildings on each side. Sea Fun Divers is on the very end of the building on the right.

From Chalong:

From Chalong Circle (Roundabout) take the road North towards Kata, Karon and Patong. This is the Patak Road. Follow the road for 3 km. Past the petrol station on your left and up into the mountains. As you come down out of the mountains, you will see a decent sized turning on the left into Soi Koktanod, turn left here. If you see a Yamaha Motorbike shop on your right, you have gone too far.

Soi Koktanod twists and turns. After 2 km you will go up a small but steep hill and down the other side then another road joins from the right, keep going. Follow the road round to the left and then fork right, up a steep hill and down the other side into Kata Noi. The road has buildings on each side. Sea Fun Divers is on the very end of the building on the right.
